  • Academic Gators

Gamma Phi Beta is currently ranked number one out of six sororities on campus in academics. Our average GPA was 3.516 for Fall 2010. New to academics this semester is an additional night of study hours. Every Monday, and now Wednesday, G Phis dominate the library commons for snacks, bonding and learning. This year's Scholarship Chair, Claire Bowens, leads Monday night study hours, and Hannah Connealy helps with Wednesday night study hours.

Claire Bowens is also pioneering an academic mentoring program, in which our newest members, the Alpha Gamma class, are paired with an older member with the same major. She is a resource for professor suggestions, books, notes, or a study friend. Other programs that the Scholarship Chair has initiated are Gator Grades and the Skippy Jar. The Gator Grades bag is passed around at chapter on Wednesday and any girl can submit her recent academic success on a paper, project or test. A few names are drawn from the bag and those girls receive a treat. Additionally, the Skippy Jar is passed once a month and girls who have not skipped class can submit their name for a prize.

    PACE

Another way Gamma Phi Beta girls educate themselves is through PACE (Personal and Chapter Enrichment). Ashley Tollefson is the 2011 PACE Chair and has presented on various topics this semester, including midterm study tips, financial management, open-mindedness, staying classy, listening skills and personal training exercises. PACE is a program unique to Gamma Phi Beta in which girls are educated about being the best person and Gamma Phi that she can be. Any girl can volunteer to present a PACE that is important to her, which is a fantastic way to get to know our sisters even better.
